Meghan Markle Prince Philip Funeral: Markle will reportedly watch the late Prince Philip’s funeral from home as she was advised by her doctor not to travel due to her pregnancy.
A source close to the Duchess of Sussex told The Independent that Meghan Markle will watch the funeral from her home in Los Angeles. The funeral will take place at St George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle. In accordance with the government guidelines, the ceremony will be attended by a maximum of 30 people.
Prince Harry, the Duke of Sussex flew from Los Angeles to London last week for the funeral, while his wife and their son Archie Harrison stayed at home. Markle had been reportedly hoping to attend but was not cleared for travel by her doctor due to her stage in pregnancy. In their interview with Oprah Winfrey, the couple revealed that they were expecting a girl in the summer. The announcement came after Markle had revealed she had suffered a miscarriage. Their newborn child will be in eighth in line to the British throne.
The couple provided a wreath which was laid for the late Duke of Edinburgh. A card written by Markle accompanied the wreath.
Airlines tend to ask for a letter from a doctor confirming the due date to ensure there is no risk of complications. Most airlines do not allow pregnant women to fly after 36 weeks.
Doctor Patrick O’Brien, spokesperson for the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists stated that several complications can put women at a higher risk for flying during pregnancy. He stated that “Women should discuss any health issues or pregnancy complications with their midwife or doctor before flying.”
The Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Philip passed away at the age of 99 on April 9. His passing was confirmed by Buckingham Palace. Prince Philip was the longest-serving royal consort in British history and would have turned 100-years-old in June.
