The UN voted to remove Iran from its women's rights body over the government's brutal crackdown against the women-led protests.
The move was proposed by the United States and 29 members of the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) voted in favour, 8 members voted against, and 16 abstained.
The resolution expelled Iran from the UN Commission on the Status of Women (UNCSW) for the remainder of its term from 2022 to 2026. Iran was stripped of its membership in the commission with immediate effect.

The release of Besharam Rang has led to controversy and Madhya Pradesh minister Narottam Mishra threatened to have the film Pathaan banned from Madhya Pradesh.
