A sharpshooter known by her code name 'Charcoal' has been hailed as a national hero in Ukraine. The Ukrainian armed forces unveiled the mystery sniper to the world this week.
In the photographs, the shooter is wearing a shemagh-style scarf and her weapon is draped in camouflage netting. Reportedly, she joined the Ukrainian marines in 2017 to impress her younger brother, who was also a member of the Ukrainian military. In the eastern Donbas region, where she worked until her contract expired early this year, she saw operations against separatists backed by the Kremlin. When the Russian armies invaded Ukraine in February, she re-enlisted. On the other hand, the Ukrainian military forces have not supplied any information on their (charcoal) battlefield victories over the invasion.
The sniper, who is said to be 41-years-old, enlisted in the Ukrainian marines in 2017 in order to impress her younger brother, who was also a member of the Ukrainian military. She witnessed action against separatists backed by the Kremlin in the eastern Donbas region, where she served until her contract expired early this year. She was re-enlisted when Russian forces entered in Ukraine in February. The Ukrainian military forces, on the other hand, have not provided any details about her (Charcoal) battlefield victories against the invasion. According to reports, she is a Donetsk native with two kids, Valeria, 11 and Yulia, nine-years-old.

According to the reports, she has pledged, "We must take them all out." She has also said, "These people are not human beings. Even the fascists were not as vile as these orcs. We must defeat them." She also vowed to fight Vladimir Putin's invaders "to the very end".
This anonymous woman shooter widely known as Charcoal joins a long tradition of female snipers from Ukraine, the most renowned of whom is Lyudmila Pavlichenko, termed 'Lady Death.' Lyudmila Mikhailovna Pavlichenko was a Soviet sniper in the Red Army during World War II, with 309 recorded kills, making her the most effective female sniper in history. She was termed Lady Death and was honoured as a Hero of the Soviet Union, the highest honour bestowed by the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics(USSR).
For those who are unaware, 'Lady Death' is a fictional character who appears in Marvel Comics' American comic books. The character is based on the personification of death as a cosmic entity. Brian Pulido was the one who came up with the idea.
