This Couple Stole Bank Cards, SIMs At Gym To Fund Lavish Lifestyle

UK-based couple, 39-year-old Ashley Singh and 20-year-old Sophie Bruyea were recently sentenced for stealing bank cards from gym lockers to fund their lavish lifestyle. They targeted about 18 people over a year, stealing bank and SIM cards from their lockers and maxing out their limits.

The couple used the stolen cards to max out credit cards, buying expensive gadgets, designer gear, and even a pedigree puppy. They also went on luxurious holidays to Dubai, Paris, and the Amalfi Coast. The people who lost out to the couple were targeted in London and Southeast England. Know the complete story here.

UK Couple Held For Year-Long Theft 

The British couple from Bromley were living a lavish lifestyle not from their own money, but from the money they were stealing. The couple executed a year-long theft right from their gym where they worked out daily.

The couple used to max out people's cards to buy expensive luxury products and go on luxurious holidays while the targets had their bank accounts drained out which they couldn't stop as they did not have their SIM cards to check into.

The couple's superficial fairytale abruptly ended when a local police officer noticed a pattern and flagged it to professional detectives skilled in handling economic crimes to take a lead from his theory. After the evident pattern, a team in Lewisham probed into skimming and tracing the cars, phones, and faces of the couple in CCTV cameras giving evidence to investigators linking them to crime. 

The couple's year-long crimes came to an end when they were arrested at Gatwick Airport after returning from a trip to Paris. They were caught with £2,000 worth of designer goods bought with stolen money. Singh was sentenced to three years in prison, while Bruyea was sentenced to 20 months in a young offenders' institute, and was suspended for two years. She was also ordered to do 120 hours of unpaid work and complete a rehabilitation program.

There were a total of 18 crimes reported, 14 in the Met area, one from Hertfordshire, one in Sussex, and two from Cambridgeshire of London and Southeast England. The couple, according to the court, committed fraud and theft for an approximate amount of 250,000 Euros.
