Two Rape Cases Filed In Ten Months Against MLA Pratap Bheel In Rajasthan

A 55-year-old Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Pratap Bheel has been booked for rape second time in the last ten months. A woman accused Pratap Lal Bheel of rape under the pretext of marriage and alleged that he had promised her a job. MLA Pratap Bheel

The survivor approached the Ambamata Superintendent of Police and alleged that Bheel raped her after promising a job. She also alleged that the politician raped her several times and promised to marry her.

According to media reports, Udaipur Superintendent of Police, Manoj Kumar said that a rape case has been registered. The SP also stated that the survivor had given the written report to him. The woman approached him through a lawyer.

According to the police, the case was registered at Ambamata Police Station but the case has been handed over to the Crime Investigation Department (CID) as Bheel is a member of the assembly.

According to the Hindustan Times report, the survivor met Bheel two years back for employment. He assured her a good job and then asked for favours. The survivor alleged that she threatened to die by suicide which is when Bheel agreed to marry her and continued raping her.

This is not the first time, the MLA from the Gogunda constituency of Rajasthan's Udaipur has been accused of rape.

A case was filed in February 2021 by a 35-year-old woman from Neemuch in Madhya Pradesh against Bheel in Sukher. The woman had alleged that she met him for seeking employment and he promised her a job. Bheel allegedly kept calling her after that and last year in March, he reached her house and allegedly raped her. In this case, too, he promised to marry her.

In this case, the woman had also given a written complaint at the Gogunda Police Station and then met the Inspector General (IG) Satyaveer Singh when the case was not registered the first time. It was after Singh directed Superintendent of Police Rajiv Pachar that the case was filed. The case was then passed on to CID-CB.

The minister has denied all the allegations and stated, in both cases, that it never happened. He says that he is "unaware" of any such complaint.
