Two Minor Girls From Jharkhand Accuse 11 Men of Rape

Two minor girls from Jharkhand’s Lohardaga area have accused 11 men of raping them on August 16. The girls complained about it at the Sadar police station and Superintendent of Police Priyadarshi Alok deployed the task force to probe the incident who have arrested all the accused. The accused are in the age group of 18 to 28 years and live in Hirhi Harra Toli locality reported PTI.

The girls along with one of their neighbours were going to the Hirhi Harra Toli locality on a motorcycle which broke down near Hirhi Railway bridge, said the Deputy Superintendent of Police Ashish Kumar Mahli on Sunday. This is when one of the girls called up their male friend to ask for help. In return, he sent 11 men to rape the two young girls, Mahli added.

According to the police, the accused took the girls to an isolated area and raped them after beating up their neighbour. They also stole the complainants’ mobile phones which the police later found in one of the accused’s houses while raiding their places.

The year 2018 has seen far too many incidents of child rape happening across the country. While the incidents have grabbed headlines, there hasn’t been any ground-level change in the level of crimes against young girls. From Kathua village to Unnao to the rapes in Haryana, young girls are in danger of sexual abuse, molestation, rape and murder. The central government recently passed the ordinance of a death penalty to accused of rape with a girl of and below 12 years of age. The ordinance, which has become a law also punishes rape offenders with a maximum of 20 years of jail when they commit rape with a girl of or below 16 years of age.
