Simran At The World Championships Pre-Finals
Simran's victory was expected owing to her promising performance on Wednesday. She first defeated Romania's Georgiana Lavinia Antuca by technical superiority without conceding a point. And later pulled off a victory by 'fall' in the high-scoring quarterfinal against Azerbaijan's Gultakin Shirinova.
The quarterfinal event was fast with moves and counter moves across the two periods. Eventually, Simran got hold of Shirinova for a pin as she was leading 18-8.
Bipasha who initially started slow managed a 6-3 win over Kazakhstan's Dilnaz Mulkinova.
Unfortunately, Kusum (59kg), Arju (68kg) and Sito lost their respective quarterfinals.
Meanwhile, wrestler Yash, participating in the 74kg category, scored a 9-2 win over Armenia's Armen Musikyan to advance to the bronze play-off in the men's freestyle competition.
Anirudh participating in the 125kg category and Pruthivraj Babasaheb Patil participating in the 92kg category defeated Hungary's Csaba Ubornyak and Uzbekistan's Mukhammadrasul Rakhimov respectively. They also advanced to the bronze medal rounds, according to news agency PTI.
