Conchata Ferrell, the famous and sassy Berta the housekeeper of Two and a Half Men, died on Monday (October 12), revealed her manager Dan Spilo. She was 77. Her publicist Cynthia Snyder also confirmed that Ferrell died of a cardiac arrest at Sherman Oaks Hospital in Los Angeles, CNN reported.
Ferrell is well-known actor for playing the beloved character for more than a decade in Two and a Half Men (aired in 2003 on CBS) and forever remembered for films like Edward Scissorhands and Erin Brockovich. Her super sarcastic character Berta was cast opposite Charlie Sheen and Jon Cryer. Ferrell had a five-decade-long career in acting, on stage and in movies, including Mystic Pizza and Network. Her first memorable performance was on L.A. Law in 1992. Ferrell was also an accomplished theatre performer. In 1974 she won a Drama Desk award for her work in The Sea Horse.
Spilo described Ferrell as a "wonderful, kind-hearted, strong woman," as he announced her demise on October 12."She will be missed," he said. She received two Emmy nominations for Two and a Half Men and her role as Susan Bloom on L.A. Law.
Learning news of her death, former Two and a Half Men co-worker Jon Cryer remembered her saying: “joy she brought so many.”
“Berta’s gruff exterior was an invention of the writers. Chatty’s warmth and vulnerability were her real strengths,” Cryer wrote on Twitter.

Another co-star, Sheen was too among those who paid tribute to Ferrell. He described her as “an absolute sweetheart, a consummate pro, a genuine friend."

Ferrell hailed from Charleston, West Virginia and was survived by her husband, Arnie Anderson, and her daughter, Samantha. Her other notable TV series include Good Times, ER, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, BJ and the Bear and Grace and Frankie.
