Tisca Chopra Mirabai Chanu controversy : Actor Tisca Chopra congratulated weightlifter Mirabai Chanu for winning silver medal at the Tokyo Olympics. But she mistakenly used the wrong picture. This infuriated the netizens and they began trolling her for the same. The actor has now taken down the tweet and apologised for her fault. Instead of using Chanu's picture in the congratulatory note, Chopra used the picture of the Indonesian weightlifter Aisah Windy Cantika.

Mirabai Chanu won the silver medal for weight lifting in Tokyo Olympics

Weightlifter Mirabai Chanu won a silver medal for India on July 24, at the Tokyo Olympics. She become the first Indian to win a medal at Tokyo. She successfully lifted 84 and 87 kgs of weight. Chanu took to her Twitter handle to thank all her supporters. She said, "I am really happy on winning silver medal in #Tokyo2020 for my country."

"It's a dream come true for me and I would like to thank the billion prayers of all Indians."

Among the many celebs, actor-filmmaker Tisca Chopra congratulated the weightlifter on her victory. But by mistake used an incorrect picture. In her tweet, she wrote, "You make us proud girl! @mirabai_chanu #Tokyo2021 #Olympics2021 #indiaattheolympics."

After Chopra made the error, Twitter users started trolling her for it even though she apologised. A user said, "She is not Mirabai Chanu. She is the Indonesian lifter who won bronze."

Another user reiterated the same thing.

Another user asked her to "improve her presence of mind and knowledge."

"Tisca Chopra put up a tweet congratulating Mirabai for winning silver medal, but she used a pic of an Indonesian participant," said a fourth.

Tisca Chopra apologises for her mistake

After about 5 hours, the actor-filmmaker deleted the tweet and apologised for her mistake. Quoting the tweet of a user, who corrected her, she said, "Sorry- made a mistake".

Quoting another tweet, she said, "Glad you guys had fun! That was a genuine mistake, am so sorry .. still doesn’t mean I am not proud of @mirabai_chanu at the #TokyoOlympics .. and of the rest of our contingent."

However, Twitterati continued to troll her for being ignorant.

Tisca Chopra was last seen in the web series Ramyug. She also appeared in the short film Rubaru in 2020. Some of her prominent works include Taare Zameen Par, Good Newwz etc.
