Popular Mumbai radio jockey Malishka Mendonsa, known popularly as RJ Malishka, came under fire from netizens Friday for an interview she held with history-making javelin Olympian Neeraj Chopra.
As per visuals she shared on Twitter from her studio, Malishka is seen grooving to a Bollywood classic during her interaction with 23-year-old Chopra as he watches on through the screen, rather uncomfortably, according to social media users who are not amused with her antics.
"Ladiesssss.. tell me I did it for all of us," she Ladiesssss..Yes I got the hard hitting, deep answers too but..Take the first 4 secs before the cam moves to the zoom call to guess who we are dancing for😇 ;) #udejabjabzulfeinteri and then tell me I did it for all of us😄 #gold #olympics #neerajchopra @RedFMIndia @RedFM_Mumbai pic.twitter.com/SnEJ99MK31

Chopra, who has amassed a wide fan following post his Tokyo victory, has been at the receiving end of similar lines of interviewing ever since his return. Recently, television anchor Navika Kumar too drew flak for probing Chopra repetitively about his relationship status, with her channel claiming his singlehood was a "big revelation" for girls. In another clip from her interview doing rounds, Malishka is heard asking Chopra for a jadoo ki jhappi (a hug) through the screen, to which he says a namaste from afar is enough.

RJ Malishka Trolled For Interview Antics - Here's What Twitter Says
Social media users calling out Malishka's interview largely accused her of unprofessionalism. Several pointed out the kind of consequences a male media personality would have faced for similar actions, if gender roles were reversed. Such "objectification" of a young athlete was unbecoming of and unexpected from a seasoned radiowoman, Twitter said.
"Cringe" was a common expression users used to describe their reaction to the interview now going viral.
Malishka's radio network too was pulled up by listeners who questioned why such content was allowed to float.
There is no word from Malishka yet on the controversy her interaction with Chopra has sparked.
