TVF CEO Arunabh Kumar Resigns After Sexual Harassment Row

TVF CEO Arunabh Kumar has quit the company, after being accused of sexual harassment by multiple women.

TVF CEO Arunabh Kumar has resigned from the company, after being accused of sexual harassment by multiple women. Allegations of sexual harassment against him started when a former TVF employee, under the name 'The Indian Fowler', blogged about how Kumar had molested her. Following her accusation, around 50 woman took to social media with similar complaints against Kumar.

Kumar has announced his resignation on Facebook and on Twitter, by posting the transcript of the letter he sent to his employees. He also apologised for the insensitive way TVF responded when he was first accused.

"The article is completely ludicrous and defamatory against TVF and its team," said TVF's official statement when news of The Indian Fowler went public.

"We made a grave mistake, by reacting instinctively, in our first official response. While no amount of apologies can undo the mistake, I would like to again apologize from the bottom of our hearts for letting you all down and thus humbly accept the brickbats we received from all of you for that insensitive response," he now says.

The Chief Operating Officer of the company, Dhawal Gusain, will take over from Kumar.

In April, Kumar was booked under sections 354 A (causing sexual harassment) and 509 (intending to outrage a woman’s modesty by indecent words, gesture or acts). He was arrested and let out on bail the same day.

In his letter, Kumar says that he is 'confident that the truth will prevail'.

He has said that he will he will be available as a mentor for the content team.

"In the wake of the recent personal attacks, what really breaks me is the blemish on the brand’s true promise. I have therefore taken the decision to step down as the CEO of TVF. I will be available as a mentor for the content team as they continue to deliver the stories you love us for."
