Srabanti Chatterjee Quits BJP: Tollywood actor Srabanti Chatterjee quits BJP citing the party's lack of initiative and sincerity towards West Bengal. She had contested the West Bengal Assembly Elections 2021 on a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) ticket but didn't win the elections. She had lost by a huge margin to the Trinamool Congress (TMC) in the state polls in the 2021 summer.

"Severing all ties with the BJP, the party for which I fought the last state elections. Reason being their lack of initiative and sincerity to further the cause of Bengal...," she tweeted.

 

Chatterjee joined the BJP in March this year. She was once close to West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and her party TMC. She was once quite close to West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and her party TMC. She had contested the elections against West Bengal Minister and TMC veteran Partha Chatterjee from Behala Paschim in the Mar-Apr elections.

  • She was recently in news for her personal life. According to a media report, her husband Roshan Singh claimed that she was defaming him among his friends. He also mentioned that Srabanti reportedly claims that he is not able to have sex because he is fat.
  • According to Anandabazar Online, Srabanti filed for divorce from Roshan Singh in Alipore court on September 18. He is her third husband. Roshan had, however, denied any such charges.
