People always say that your twenties go by faster than you’d think. Times are changing, and it's easy for things to slip by you, without you considering their importance in your life. Here is a list of some things you need to know before you turn thirty:
Work hard; play harder
Twenties are a time when people get stuck, doing one thing too much. Whether its work, or studies, or even a relationship, take time out, to have some fun. Socialize, meet new people. Everything must have a balance, for you to enjoy life thoroughly.
Learn to have self-control
Don’t get carried. That doesn’t mean you shouldn’t have fun, but have fun responsibly. Take care of yourself, and create a good balance between your social life, and professional life. Learn to say no.
Take care of the little things
It is through building a good habit, by applying sunscreen, or brushing your teeth, or taking the stairs instead of the elevator, that you will reap increased health benefits. So, do not brush it under the carpet.
Stop trying to impress everyone
This is especially true for those who think the whole universe revolves around you. You need to step back and reassess. Spend more time with your loved ones.
Create a healthy lifestyle for yourself
It is important for you to have an active lifestyle. Remove those unhealthy fatty foods from your diet. Help yourself, by being in shape, and you will feel better. Metabolism only slows down when you get older, so take care of your body now.
Learn to take care of your finances
Start saving up for an emergency fund. Don’t spend the money mindlessly. You never know where you might need it.
Travel
Whether it's going to the hill stations, or river rafting, or a beach vacation. Travel the world, meet new people, explore different places. You will learn things that will stay with you for the rest of your life. You can never deny the amazing experiences you collect through your travels. Explore, venture out, and take this time out to have fun, before you commit to bigger responsibility.
It is important you invest your time in meaningful books, that help you expand your knowledge, and give you different perspectives on life. Everybody has different reading interests. Go to a bookshop, explore your options, even pick a few guide books, but spend your free time reading, it will build a good habit for yourself, as well as expand your knowledge, and is one of the best things you can do for yourself.
Embrace your mistakes
Life is not all roses, and without making mistakes, you won’t ever learn. Take it in your stride, learn from your failures, and don’t let them bring you down.
“Some of the best lessons we ever learn are learned from past mistakes. The error of the past is the wisdom and success of the future.” -Dale Turner, musician.
Take some time out and get to know yourself
It is imperative that you learn about yourself. These are the best years to do that. Try and understand who you are, love yourself, and spend alone time with yourself. Try and understand what you really want, and figure out a way to get there.
