Tina Dabi Gives Second Chance To Love, Marries Pradeep Gawande

Indian Administrative Officer (IAS) Tina Dabi tied the knot with fellow officer Dr Pradeep Gawande earlier this week. The first photos of the same were released on April 22. The couple was seen wearing simple white attire and the wedding took place in presence of their close family, friends and a portrait of Dr BR Ambedkar. The wedding took place in Jaipur.

The pictures of the private wedding ceremony were first shared by Vinod Jakhar, who is the national secretary of the National Students' Union of India (NSUI). When Tina Dabi got engaged in March this year, she shared the news with her followers on Instagram. She shared the a picture of her with her fiance Pradeep Gawande. In the caption, Dabi wrote, "I am wearing the smile you gave me fiance."

While Dabi is the Joint Secretary in the Finance Department of Rajasthan, her husband is serving as the Director of the Department of Archaeology and Museum in the same state. The news of their engagement had gone viral on social media, the way their wedding pictures are now widely shared. While many joined the couple in their celebration with congratulatory comments, many also raised questions on Dabi's second marriage. The civil services officer was earlier married another IAS officer named Athar Aamir Khan in 2018. Due to issues in their marriage, the couple got divorced in 2021.

Talking about her divorce, Dabi had earlier said, "Divorce is a painful experience, it drains you emotionally. I kept myself busy in work spent time with my family to come out of that difficult time." During the pandemic after her divorce, Dabi met Pradeep Gawande grew closer to him. In her interviews, Dabi had shared that she and Pradeep were deputed in the health department together during the second wave of the pandemic in May 2021. That is when they started to like each other.

Pradeep Gawande then proposed to Dabi and she said yes. The IAS officer said that they only decided to marry each other after understanding each and meeting each other's families. Some also raised questions on the 13 years age gap between Pradeep Tina Dabi but she said that instead of age, the deciding factor for their marriage were "Temperamental, compatibilities, cultural factors and mutual understanding are way more important."

Apart from being an IAS officer, Pradeep Gawande is also an MBBS doctor. Dabi also finds him a nice human being. In an interview, Dabi said, "He’s also from my community. Another added bonus is that my mother’s side is also Marathi just like Pradeep."

Tina Dabi is one of the few Indians who decided get a divorce. Being a Dalit woman who topped the IAS exams in 2015, her actions were an inspirations to many Indians. The act of ending a marriage is still frowned upon in India and individuals face a lot of judgement if they decide to remarry. If two people happen to fall in love and want to keep each other happy, why should that trouble anyone else? Love should be celebrated and embraced with open arms no matter how often it finds us.
