TikTok delivery challenge goes wrong, results in backlashing of the user. Netizens question her conscience that made her challenge the safety of a fellow driver.
The virtual video platform that offers netizens to interact through short videos has always been a much controversial platform. The platform that offers a huge engagement and exposure to users has also been a stage where people call out on unfair practices.
The same kind of incident was recently witnessed when a social media influencer uploaded a video challenge in which she offered his delivery man candies in exchange for the fast delivery of his orders. However, the majority of the audience didn't applaud her idea of risking the safety of the delivery man just for "content".
Erica Chan, who has more than 94,000 followers, uploaded the contentious video last week which faced a lot of backlashes.
In the video, Chan said, "So we messaged our
While the driver assumably sped up, accepting Chan's offer, she laughed and applauded the act and said, "He is f***ing running, look at this dude. Woah, that’s some real speed, look at that sh*t. Is that even on foot anymore? "
The video, which has more than 200,000 views, witnessed resentment in the comment section. Many criticised the TikToker for challenging the driver and potentially putting his safety in jeopardy.
Comments like, "Safety is the rider’s priority, don’t challenge them", "You are toying with people who are doing their best to earn a living" were seen in the section that clearly showed the empathy people felt for the fellow driver.
However, the driver failed to arrive at his destination drop on time. Nevertheless, on the brighter side, the influencer gave him a bottle of water and also filmed the entire process.
Chan denied the allegation of challenging the driver to reach them in 10 minutes, and clarified in another TikTok that the challenge was to reach by the "time they gave us".
