Arya Banerjee, who was seen playing the role of Shakeela in Vidya Balan's critically acclaimed film The Dirty Picture, was found dead at her south Kolkata residence on Friday. She was just 33 years old. The LSD: Love Sex Aur Dhoka actress was found lying in the bedroom, the forensic expert found signs of nose bleeding and vomiting when police broke into her third-floor apartment, according to a report by Times of India.
After her domestic help informed police, a forensic team collected samples from the room and her body was sent for post-mortem.
Condolences have been pouring in from the industry ever since the news of her unexpected demise broke.
Actress and model Bidita Bag wrote on Twitter, "Rest in peace Arya Banerjee...In my early modelling days...I shared room with her...for my very first outstation project. She was a senior and a very famous model in kolkata...She pampered me a lot during our shooting days... #AryaBanerjee."

In another tweet, the Abhay actress further wrote, "She was the daughter of Sitar maestro Nikhil Banerjee. A very talented girl...who used to sing and dance like a rock-star. She amazed us with her acting and dancing stint in films like LSD, Dirty picture. will miss u forever. Pleading face #aryabanerjee #DevduttaBanerjee"

Content creator and fashion photographer from Mumbai goes by the username Viral Bhayani, took to his Instagram to pay tribute to Banerjee. He posted:
Her Love Sex Aur Dhokha co-star Anshuman Jha on Twitter shared that he was "extremely shocked and "saddenned" by the news. "Have only fond memories of my interactions with her during the making of LSD and its promotions. Condolences and strength to her family and loves ones," he wrote.

Arya Banerjee, who was also known as Devdutta, was the youngest daughter of late sitarist Pandit Nikhil Banerjee.
