Tamilisai Soundararajan, Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry, received her first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine on Friday. She was vaccinated at the Rajiv Gandhi Government Women and Children's Hospital, Puducherry.

She took to Twitter to update everyone about it and urged others to join her in the vaccination drive.

Earlier, Tamilisai Soundararajan had inaugurated an exclusive COVID-19 vaccination programme for women at the Rajiv Gandhi Hospital in Puducherry. She had announced that she will be receiving the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine a day before. Besides this, governor Tamilisai Soundararajan had also headed a COVID-19 review meeting at Raj Niwas, along with senior officers, and representatives from various medical colleges. They discussed how Puducherry could tackle the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Puducherry lieutenant governor Tamilisai Soundararajan travelled along with fellow passengers in local buses
Recently, lieutenant governor Tamilisai Soundararajan was in the news for taking a bus ride to Thavalakuppam junction and then travelled to Abishegappakkam. She wanted to review the transport situation and the condition of roads in the region. She was accompanied by her advisor, A.P. Maheshwari, adviser, and Special Secretary S.D. Sundaresan. Soundararajan was had travelled along with fellow passengers in the bus.
“I travelled along with people to learn first hand about the facilities and conditions. The grievances which I heard from the people will be addressed after the election is over. In the meantime, discussions will be held with the officers to plan in this regard,” Soundararajan said.
Besides being the lieutenant governor of Puducherry, Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan is also the current governor of Telangana. She took charge of Puducherry, soon after Kiran Bedi was removed from the post. Soundararajan was also made the president of the Tamil Nadu unit of the BJP in 2014 and became the first woman to be appointed. Besides being a politician, she is also a trained doctor.
