A teenager from Puducherry decided to repair a pothole all by himself after the dreadful conditions of the road led to his father falling off his motorcycle and suffering a fracture.
The eighth-grade student collected sand, gravel and other materials he found in his village and mixed them with cement and filled the pothole.
According to a resident of the village, the Puducherry-Pathukanna route had been in bad condition for seven years and no action has been taken to restore the road.
Teenager Repairs Pothole After Grandfather's Accident
The 13-year-old boy named Masilamani took this initiative as his 60-year-old grandfather, a farmer named Sekhar met with an accident and ended up in a hospital with a broken leg after attempting to avoid a pothole.
His attempt to avoid the pothole led to him being on another motorcycle while he travelled along the road on Thursday night. The incident affected Masilamani so much that he decided to set things right all by himself.
The eighth-grade student gathered all the materials required to fill the pothole such as sand, gravel and other materials from around his village and mixed them with some cement, and filled the pothole as well as the other damaged parts of the Pathukannu road in Sendhanatham in neighbouring Villianoor.

The Pathukanna road is a prominent pathway and is majorly used by the people around and from Sethanatham. As per the locals, the road is in a pathetic condition for a long time now, covered entirely by potholes which makes it harder for the locals to travel through, but the authorities are taking no actions to improve its condition. The locals added that no maintenance work has been done on the road for the past seven years.
All the commuters who saw Masilamani filling the potholes appreciated him for his concern and presented him with shawls to congratulate him on his actions. "My wish is that nobody should meet with accidents and suffer injuries as my grandfather has," said the boy while he was given a complimentary copy of a book from former Legislator Vayyapuri Manikandan to praise the young boy's gesture.
