In Canada's downtown Toronto, eight teenage girls have been accused of the second-degree murder of a 59-year-old man. The teenage girls who appear to have met online on Sunday allegedly fatally stabbed the man.
The deceased had been allegedly beaten and stabbed by the teenage girls early on Sunday morning at a plaza close to Toronto's main rail station. The youngest girls were 13 and the eldest were 16; three are 13, three are 14, and two are 16.
According to Detective Sergeant Terry Browne of Toronto's homicide unit, the man had just entered the city's homeless shelter system. He does, however, have "a very supportive family in the area, so I wouldn't necessarily call him homeless, maybe just recently on some hard luck," Terry Browne continued.

8 Teenage Girls Charged With Murder Of 59-Year-Old
According to Browne, on December 18 at around midnight, onlookers called for help for a man with "stab wounds," and paramedics responded. The man was taken to the hospital with serious injuries but died there and then.
As per reports, the girls may have attacked and stabbed the victim after a fight. According to Browne, the girls may have been attempting to steal a bottle of alcohol from the man. They were all "equally culpable," he claimed. When they decided to attack this man, DS Browne continued, "There is no question in our minds that they were all acting as a single entity in a swarming mob mentality."
According to the Youth Criminal Justice Act of Canada, none of the eight suspects have been named. Following witness interviews, the teenage girls were taken into custody. Additionally, a number of weapons were found at the scene by the authorities. The suspects were in court on Sunday and will be back on December 29.
