Priyanka Vaishya, a 25-year-old woman from a small town in Anuppur district of Madhya Pradesh, has broken records by making it to the top 30 ‘strongman’ league world rankings. The techie-turned-bodybuilder has bagged 28th rank in the strongman league world rankings. She is the only Indian woman on the list. Priyanka was a software engineer. T

A few days ago, the bodybuilder won her fourth national title. She has also qualified for the World Championship, which is scheduled to be held in Goa in December.
The ranking was released last week. She is overwhelmed with the achievement. The champion shares how it has been a dream come true for her.

She said, “The latest ranking is quite motivating. I hoped for 35 or thereabouts but 28th in the world feels like a dream come true. It has encouraged me to keep my focus on the world title.”
Priyanka shares the rank with two more bodybuilders -- Russia’s Leyla Amirbekyan and Bolivia’s Maria Carmen Soliz Bejarang. America’s Christina Bangma holds the first position.

“Four back-to-back national titles have helped me secure such a good rank,” said Priyanka.
Priyanka said she is motivated by the rankings. But she will not stop until she achieves the world title. She said, “I do not want to be complacent just because I have entered the top 30. It is definitely very inspiring, but there will be no stopping for me till I hold the world title.”
She said, “I aim to now win the world championship, taking rest will be out of my life till I win the world event.”

Priyanka is a fitness trainer at the Bhojpur Club. Her journey began when she got her first opportunity last year in Kolkata at the ‘Strongman championship’ on the national stage.
Bhojpur Club society president Aruneshwar Singhdeo and her coach is proud of her achievement. He said, “She is very consistent. I’m sure she will make the country proud.”
