Thane: Woman Teacher Allegedly Tortured Minor Domestic Help, Case Filed

In a shocking incident, a 33-year-old teacher from Thane has been booked for beating and torturing her 11-year-old female domestic help. The teacher belongs to the Kapurbawdi area and the domestic help is from Delhi. The torture has been going on since December of last year. Some women who worked as maid in the neighbouring flats of the teacher's building rescued the girl. 

As per the reports, the teacher used to beat the minor girl with a pipe blaming her for not taking care of her child. She also didn't give her food. As per the FIR registered against the teacher, the minor girl was not allowed to step out of the house. 

The police have said that no arrest has been made in the case so far. A case has been registered at the Kapurbawdi police station under various sections of the Indian penal code for unlawful labour, wrongful restraint, and voluntarily causing hurt. A case under the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act has also been registered. 

Minor girl working as domestic help assaulted by DMK MLA's son

This is not the first time that the news of torture of domestic help surfaced and left us in shock. Recently, an 18-year-old girl was allegedly physically assaulted by Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) MLA Karunanithi’s son and daughter-in-law. The girl was working as a domestic help at his son's house in Chennai to meet the expenses of the coaching institute for the medical entrance examination NEET. 

The son, Anto Mathivanan and the daughter-in-law, Marlina, were accused of torturing and denying medical help to the girl. The police had booked Mathivanan. In a video shared by Evidence- a non-profit organisation- narrated her ordeal. She said that the couple "physically assaulted" her in whichever way they wanted to. 

Narrating a painful incident, the girl broke down and said, "Even if I don’t do the smallest task properly, they would slap me on my face. Once, they asked me to prepare food by 6 am because they were going out of town. I hadn’t slept till 2 am the previous night. Nobody can survive without sleeping. I could only get up by 7 am. Because I couldn’t keep the food ready, they burnt my hands using a hair straightener.”

The girl also alleged that the couple never took her to the hospital no matter how much she was hurt or bleeding. She had to treat herself. She further said that the couple threatened her that no one would help her if she told anything about them to others because of their political background. 

Minor female domestic help stripped, filmed and tortured by Gurugram family

In December last year, a Gurugram family allegedly stripped, filmed and tortured a 13-year-old girl. The girl worked as a house help at the family's home. The Gurugram Police have arrested the family which included a woman and two sons and are facing charges under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, and the Juvenile Justice Act.

The girl's mother filed the complaint. According to the complaint, the two sons and their mother taped the girl's mouth, stripped her and thrashed her with an iron rod and hammer. They also poured acid on her hand. They threatened to kill her or send her to a brothel if she complained about them. 

When the girl was rescued she was found locked inside a room with tape around her mouth. The mother alleged that the family made the girl do all kinds of work from cooking, cleaning, and washing clothes to caring for a dog. The family had not given a salary for the last four months and did not let her talk to her mother for four months.
