Kajol Sargar, a 16-year girl from Maharashtra has paved the way, being the first one to win a Gold Medal in the Khelo India Youth Games. Kajol Sargar comes from a humble background and trains under Mayur Sinhasane. She paved the way for Maharashtra's march toward the top.
Kajol Sargar, from Maharashtra who is in news for being the first gold medallist, is the daughter of a tea stall vendor. 16-year-old Kajol Sargar's sports journey first began three years ago, when she started watching her brother Sanket train as a weightlifter during her daily visits to the gym. She watched him climb up the lifting ladder and became one of India's top lifters, but since weight lifting is seen mostly as a men's sport in India, she only watched but never aspired to take up the sport herself.

Her true inspiration though, came back in 2019, when she saw Rupa Hangandi, who was also from Sangli, clinching the gold medal in the Khelo India Youth Games in Pune, reports

She also added, "I was trying to lift 70kg during training and got hurt. In March, I was out of action for over two months and even missed out on the Nationals in Bhubaneshwar. This title is an important milestone in my three-year journey and would inspire me to work harder."
