Good news for Taylor Swift’s fans! The Folklore singer has been named artist of the year at the American Music Awards (AMAs), bagging it for a record sixth time. She won a total of three AMAs Sunday night, including the top “favorite artist” honour. The ceremony was held live in Los Angeles amid tight coronavirus restrictions.
Swift couldn't attend the event and accepted her trophy via a video message in which she thanked her fans for showering support to her surprise lockdown album folklore and explained her absence from the event. She said she is currently busy in the studio re-recording her entire songs' masters after her catalogue was sold, "The reason I'm not there tonight is I'm actually re-recording all of my old music in the studio where we originally recorded it. So it's been amazing, and I can't wait for you to hear it," Swift said in a pre-recorded video, ABC News reported.

In the video, Swift told the viewing audience, “This is a fan-voted award, which means so much to me. You guys have been beyond wonderful all the years of my career, but especially this one, when we’ve been so far apart. We haven’t been able to see each other in concert, but I still feel really connected to you through the music."
She also cited “your reaction to ‘Folklore’ and all of the ways in which your imagination honored that album.”
Earlier on Sunday, Swift took to Twitter and posted a photo of herself relaxing on a couch with the message, “Not a lot going on at the moment."

With these three top victories at the fan-voted show, Swift broke her own record for the highest number of AMA wins. She has now a total of 32 wins, suppressing the previous record-holder Michael Jackson, who has 24.
The year 2019 was dominated by Swift, who was announced as the world’s highest-paid entertainer by the annual Forbes Celebrity 100 list. Her recent, Folklore was released on July 24 and earned Swift her seventh No. 1 album. Interestingly, in the last four years, Swift has been dominating the three biggest weeks for any album, with Reputation (1.24 million units, Dec. 2, 2017-dated chart), Lover (867,000) and Folklore (846,000). In September this year, Folklore acquired the first position on the Billboard 200 albums chart.
