Tamil Nadu BJP president Tamilisai Soundararajan will be the new Governor of Telangana. A doctor by profession, Soundararajan is the daughter of former Tamil Nadu Congress chief Kumari Anandan and niece of Congress MP from KH Vasanthakumar.
Tamilisai spoke to the media after her appointment was announced. "I chose BJP despite growing up as daughter of a Congress leader...Biggest challenge in my life was to stay determined about my decision to join BJP and make a mark for myself without any hurdles," she told reporters in Chennai. She added, “Irrespective of my age, the leaders have given me this opportunity and I dedicate this success to everyone in the party, all party members, the people of TN and my parents."

A doctor by training, Tamilisai Soundararajan took on her Congress leaning family when she decided to go with the BJP
Having served the BJP in various capacities, Soundararajan was made the president of the Tamil Nadu party unit in 2014. Soundararajan, 58, was born in Nagercoil in Tamil Nadu and comes from a family of leaders in the Congress Party. As a student she was active in college politics. She was an elected leader during her stint at Madras Medical College. A doctor by profession, Soundararajan said it was a tough life for her where she had to make a choice between her father's and her own path. "Today my father will be happy for my decision," she said.
Soundararajan stood for elections but lost both the attempts.

She conducted a popular weekly programme for women on Doordarshan Channel which was aired as Magalir Panchayat (Women’s Court) for over 5 years. She has translated many important political and medical articles from English to Tamil.
According to her Wikipedia page, she pursued her MBBS at Madras Medical College, Chennai and studied obstetrics & Gynaecology at Dr. MGR Medical University, Chennai.
