Pani Puri Death. In a shocking event on Saturday, a Tamil Nadu woman died, allegedly after consuming Pani Puri, a popular Indian street snack, offered to her by her brother.

The 34-year-old was rushed to the hospital on vomiting and falling unconscious  but declared dead on arrival. A case has been registered following the woman's death. An enquiry with the woman's family is ongoing. The case comes after a few similar cases, earlier this year, where people have died of food poisoning by eating Pani Puri.

Here are 8 things to know about the Pani Puri Death case:

1. As per reports on Saturday, the Tamil Nadu woman died after consuming Pani Puri.
2. Pani Puri, also known as Golgappa in the northern parts of the country, is a popular Indian street snack made of fried flatbread and spiced water.
3. The woman was identified as Rohini, aged 34, and she resided with her parents in Gandhinagar.
4. As per reports, she ate the Pani Puri, which her brother offered on September 23. She then vomited and fell unconscious. She was rushed to the hospital but declared dead on arrival.
5. An enquiry with Rohini’s family is ongoing, and a case has been registered.
6. In a similar report in March this year, in Nagpur, a preteen girl and tens of others fell victim to food poisoning, after reportedly consuming pani puri and other street snacks at a village market.
7. The girl developed a fever, with her poor health ultimately resulting in her death. Around 40 other customers too fell sick.
8. Another extraordinary case surfaced from Pune earlier this month, wherein a 23-year-old woman allegedly ended her life after an argument over her husband bringing home pani puri without consulting her. The woman allegedly consumed poison and died.
