Table tennis player Manika Batra has won her second National table tennis title after defeating Reeth Rishya on Thursday. The match was conducted at Tau Devi Lal Indoor Stadium in Panchkula.
Initially, Batra lost in the first two matches, but managed to win against Rishya in the last four games 8-11, 10-12, 11-1, 11-9, 11-5, 11-6.
Batra who is a Commonwealth Games gold medallist had grabbed her maiden title in the year 2015 at the Hyderabad Nationals. She had lost the title to Sutirtha Mukherjee in 2017 at Ranchi.
During the intense final round, Reeth was defeated by Batra in the third game, but started racing against her in the fourth. However, Batra grabbed 8 more points and started leading in the fifth game too.

Both Reeth and Manika represent the Petroleum Sports Promotion Board (PSPB). This was the second time when Rishya lost to Manika Batra. They had played against each other at the 2019 Institutional Championships, where Rishya was leading in the first half of the final match. However, Manika bounced back to win that tournament too.
On Wednesday, Manika Batra knocked out Archana Kamath in the semi-finals round to march into the finals.
