Taapsee Pannu IT raid: The Income Tax Department on Thursday reportedly said that issues were found with a Rs 5 crore cash receipt recovered from Taapsee Pannu.
The officials in their statement said that similar irregularities were allegedly found in Anurag Kashyap's funds. According to reports, the ₹ 300 crore income of Kashyap is under scrutiny. The Income Tax department searched homes and officers of Pannu, Kashyap and the partners of his old production house Phantom Films on Wednesday. After raiding 28 locations in Mumbai and Pune, the IT department came out with its findings.
According to the department, "During the search, evidence of huge suppression of income by the leading film production house compared to the actual box office collections has been unearthed." The agency added that Phantom Films' officials have been able to explain a discrepancy of around ₹ 300 crores".

They also claimed that evidence of manipulation and under-valuation of share transactions of Phantom Films were found. It said that unexplainable cash receipts worth ₹ 5 crores were recovered from Taapsee Pannu. Further investigation is underway.
The department added that "non-genuine/bogus expenditure" related issues were found with Anurag Kashyap and a tax implication of ₹ 20 crores was detected. "Similar findings have been made in the case of the leading actress also," the department said. Pannu, Kashyap and other individuals were also questioned by the IT department after the raids.
The Income Tax department raid on the actor and director became a talking point on social media. While some came in defence of Kashyap and Pannu and accused the government of crackdown on the artists who supported the farmers' protests and critiqued the government on several occasions. On the other hand, there were many such as Kangana Ranaut who were in favour of the raids. Neither Anurag Kashyap nor Taapsee Pannu have released their statements about the raids as of yet.
