Eyewitness reports vividly describe the chaos that engulfed the mall as the assailant launched his attack on unsuspecting shoppers. Videos shared on social media depict the frantic scenes as the attacker, wielding a knife, moved swiftly through the corridors, spreading fear and panic. Despite the terrifying situation, Amy Scott remained resolute and confronted the assailant without hesitation. With remarkable courage, she swiftly put an end to the threat with a single, precisely aimed shot.

Courage Under Fire

An eyewitness, who opted to remain anonymous, recounted the moment when the officer confronted the assailant. "He just started moving toward us, and all I heard was 'put it down,' and then she shot him," the witness recounted to ABC News Australia. "But we knew, if she hadn't shot him, he would have kept going. He was on a rampage. Then she went over and gave him CPR. He had a large blade on him — she threw the knife away. He seemed to be on a killing spree."

Eight victims, including a nine-month-old baby, are currently hospitalized following the attack. Local media reports suggest that the baby's mother may be among the deceased. Police have confirmed that five of the six individuals killed were women.

The female inspector was in Bondi Junction for routine duties when she learned of the tragic events  at the shopping complex. She was the first responder on the scene and was promptly guided by shoppers to the fifth floor of the complex.

Despite receiving widespread praise and admiration from the public, Amy Scott maintains her humility, refusing to accept the title  of "hero" bestowed upon her by many.

In a candid interview reported by the Daily Mail, she shies away from the limelight, attributing her actions to a simple sense of duty and responsibility to safeguard the innocent. "I'm not a hero," she insists. "I was just doing my job."

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese lauded the swift and resolute actions of Insp. Amy Scott, underlining the deep debt of gratitude owed to those who courageously confront danger in their line of duty. He stated, "A reminder that those people who wear uniforms are people who rush to danger, not away from it."

Karen Webb, the head of the state's police force, echoed this sentiment, praising Insp. Scott's "enormous courage" and acknowledging her resilience, stating that she was "doing well under the circumstances.".
