Actor Surbhi Tiwari Files FIR Against Husband And In-Laws For Domestic Violence

Actor Surbhi Tiwari files FIR against her husband, mother-in-law, and sisters-in-law for domestic violence and is planning to divorce him. Tiwari and Praveen Kumar Sinha had gotten married in 2019 and their relationship took a turn soon after the marriage. Reportedly, Surbhi Tiwari realised that she and her husband Praveen Kumar Sinha, the pilot and businessman based in Delhi, were not compatible soon after they got married.

She said that Sinha had previously agreed to move to Mumbai with her, but then refused to relocate. This affected Tiwari’s career, as she could not take up daily soap operas.

She became financially dependent on him and struggled to make money. Tiwari also said that she wanted to start a family but Sinha “wasn’t keen” on starting a family.

Surbhi Tiwari Files FIR For Domestic Violence

Tiwari said, “I have filed a complaint against Praveen, his mother and his sisters-in-law for domestic violence and intimidating me.” She added that she has not gotten her streedhan back, which is against her rights. In 2015, the Supreme Court ruled that depriving a woman of her streedhan amounted to domestic violence.

Tiwari claimed that if she had her streedhan she would not have had to sell her gold ornaments for survival and medical expenses. She said, “I had planned to ways amicably. However, Praveen told me that he would not give me a divorce and that I could move the court for it.”  Thus, Tiwari decided to take legal action against them and plans to file for divorce.

The 57-year-old television actor Surbhi Tiwari is known for her role in Diya Aur Baati Hum. She has also worked in television shows like Tota Weds Maina, Ghar Jamai, Jap Tap Vratt, Kahaani Ghar Ghar Ki, Shikwah, Shree Ganesh, Shagun, Hari Mirchi Lal Mirchi, Hum Aapke Ghar Mein Rehte Hain and Agle Janam Mohe Bitiya Hi Kijo.

Tiwari and Sinha met in October 2018 after their common friends arranged for them to meet. A few months later, the couple got married on February 10, 2019, in Mumbai.
