Producer Ekta Kapoor recently faced criticism for allegedly disrespecting soldiers and hurting the sentiments of soldier families in her recent web series XXX which had objectionable content. Arrest warrants were issued against the producer in various parts of India.
Ekta Kapoor and her production company have produced many R-rated web series and shows and are often in news because of their content. Her recent web series, XXX, was criticised for depicting objectionable content against soldiers and an ex-serviceman named Shambhu Kumar. He allegedly filed a plea against the second season of the web series in a trial court in Bihar's Begusarai for showing objectionable scenes related to the wife of a soldier. Ekta Kapoor moved to Supreme Court against the arrest warrant issued against her by Bihar's court and SC's judgement was recently released.

Supreme court Slam Ekta Kapoor
On Ekta Kapoor's plea for protection, the SC stated, "Something has to be done. You are polluting the minds of the young generation of this country. It is available to all. OTT (Over The Top) content is available to all. What kind of choice are you providing to the people?....on the contrary you are polluting the minds of youngsters."
The bench hearing Ekta Kapoor's plea for protection included Justices C T Ravikumar and Ajay Rastogi. Putting the concerns of the producer, senior advocate Mukul Rohatgi reportedly quipped that the arrest warrant was against her freedom of choice and that the contents of all the seasons of the XXX series are based on subscription. He also stated that though they have filed a petition in Patna High Court, it doesn't seem like they would hold a hearing for the case soon.
The court made a suggestion to assign a local lawyer to check on the proceedings in the Patna High Court. The court also slammed her for wasting the court's time and the bench reportedly said, "Every time you travel to this court....we don't appreciate this. We will put a cost on you for filing such a petition."
The court declared that just because Ekta Kapoor has the privilege and wealth for hiring senior advocates to fight her cases, doesn't mean that the court will entertain all of her pleas. The court is for those who don't have voices and if she finds it difficult to get justice after having all privileges, think of what the common man goes through to even get here. The court has kept the case pending.
