Proud about having a daughter? Post a selfie with her! This is the idea floated by the former sarpanch of Jind in Haryana, Sunil Jaglan. What's more he has converted the idea into a first-of-it's kind online space where the selfies can be posted. The portal titled http://selfiewithdaughter.world was launched by Haryana health minister Anil Vij.
The platform which has a capacity to hold 10 lakh selfies, took social media by storm with more than 13,000 visitors in just a few hours of it going online on Thursday. The union ministry of women and child development is also promoting the campaign on social media since it promotes the idea of protecting the girl child.

Jaglan had organised a 'selfie with daughter' contest in June 2015, when he was heading the village panchayat of Jind's Bibipur village, which received an overwhelming response from people across the country. The contest was held to inspire parents to feel proud of their daughters, and to stop discrimination against the girl child in Indian society. He had also brought together more than 100 khaps in July 2012 to take an oath to fight against female foeticide in northern India.
"The craze for the campaign can be estimated from the fact that I have received as many as 8,000 selfies in the past one year. Many of these came from abroad, including USA and Germany," says Jaglan, reported by ibtimes. "The people even asked me to share the selfies on a Facebook page. Such a response inspired me to develop a website where people can upload and see their selfies anytime in the future," he adds.
