The Court will pronounce its verdict on April 29. Special Judge Geetanjli Goel will most likely pronounce the verdict in the death case. She had heard arguments from the counsel appearing for Delhi Police as well as the Congress MP.

While the arguments were going on, the Delhi police sought to frame several charges against Tharoor which included 306 (abetment of suicide). However, Senior Advocate Vikas Pahwa who appeared for Shashi Tharoor told the court that the investigation carried out by the Special Investigative Team (SIT) had relieved him of all charges in the Sunanda Pushkar death case.

Besides this, Vikas Pahwa also sought Shashi Tharoor's discharge from the case. He said that there was no evidence available against him to prove that the offence was punishable under sections 498A (husband or relative of husband of a woman subjecting her to cruelty) or 306 (abetment of suicide) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Sunanda Pushkar death case:

On the night of January 17, 2014, Sunanda Pushkar who was the wife of Congress MP Shashi Tharoor was found dead in the suite of a luxury hotel in New Delhi. Very soon, a First Information Report (FIR) was filed in the case.

The prosecution said that Sunanda Pushkar was a healthy person who died after consuming Alprazolam. They say that Pushkar was mentally harassed by her husband.

On Monday, Special Public Prosecutor Atul Srivastava said that the truth will be out "when person is in the dock". The prosecution then tried to make the court file charges against Tharoor based on the prima facie existence of a case for trial in terms of Section 221 of CrPC.

However, Pahwa argued that there was no formidable opinion on Sunanda Pushkar's death.
