Philanthropist Sunaina Kejriwal Passes Away At 53 Due To Cancer

Sunaina Kejriwal, director of the Kamalnayan Bajaj Hall and Art Gallery, passed away in Mumbai on October 5. She was 53 and had been battling cancer for three years.

Sunaina Kejriwal, director of the Kamalnayan Bajaj Hall and Art Gallery, passed away in Mumbai on October 5. She was 53 and had been battling cancer for three years. Sunaina comes from the entrepreneurial lineage of the Bajaj family who were very closely involved with Mahatma Gandhi during India’s Freedom Struggle.

She was the daughter of industrialist Rahul Bajaj and wife of Manish Kejriwal, founder and managing partner of Kedaara Capital. She is survived by her husband and two sons Aryaman and Nirvaan. Her brothers Rajiv and Sanjiv Bajaj reside in Pune.

Who Was Sunaina Kejriwal?

While Sunaina Kejriwal largely kept her personal and professional endeavours out of the public eye, she has been associated with several philanthropic activities and charitable initiatives, aligning with the family's long-standing tradition of social responsibility. The Bajaj family is one of India's most influential and well-known business dynasties, with a legacy spanning multiple generations in industries such as automobiles, financial services, and home appliances.

Sunaina did her Post Graduate Diploma Programme from the Bhau Daji Lad Museum in 'The History of Indian Art – Modern & Contemporary & Curatorial Studies' and attained her bachelor's degree from the S.N.D.T. College, Pune specialising in textiles. She also did a Silk Screen Printing course from Sophia College, Mumbai.

Sunaina took the reins as the Director of the Kamalnayan Bajaj Hall & Art Gallery in June 2008. The objective of the gallery is to create a space where art and culture shall interact, encouraging a new generation of artists to nurture culture, tradition, heritage, passion and beyond.

Sunaina was strongly involved in the arts and philanthropy and played a pivotal role in managing the Kamalnayan Bajaj Hall and Art Gallery, contributing to the cultural landscape of Mumbai. Her personal interests include pottery, art, theatre and travelling. Sunaina was married to Manish Kejriwal, the founder of Kedaara Capital, a leading private equity firm in India. He was previously the head of Temasek India.
