Complaint Against Rhea Chakraborty Cites Abetment To Suicide, Cheating & Conspiracy

In a shocking turn of events, actress Rhea Chakraborty has now been booked under various charges in connection to Sushant Singh Rajput’s death. And this time, it is Rajput’s father who has levelled these allegations, filing an FIR at the Rajiv Nagar police station in Patna under the various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The charges filed against Chakraborty, who allegedly seeing Rajput, include unlawful confinement and abetment to suicide, among many others.

The FIR By Rajput’s Father Against Chakraborty

Sushant Singh Rajput's father KK Singh lodged a police complaint on July 25 against Chakraborty and six others, including her family members. Four officers of Bihar Police have reportedly left for Mumbai with the copy of FIR as soon as it was registered.

The case has been lodged under various sections of IPC punishment for wrongful restraint, punishment for wrongful confinement, theft in dwelling house, punishment for criminal breach of trust, cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property and abetment to suicide. Rajput’s father alleged, among many things, that Chakraborty pressurised him into believing he has mental health issues and got him treated by “conniving” doctors. He said in his FIR that when Chakraborty found that his son’s bank balance was going down, she left with cash, jewellery, laptop, credit card, its PIN number and password and important documents and doctors’ receipts. He has also alleged that 15 crores out of 17 crores from Rajput’s bank account was transferred to other accounts with which Rajput has nothing to do.  “Sushant called his sister and told her that Rhea had threatened him to show doctor receipts to the media and would prove him mad. Thereafter, no person would give him work,” Singh said in the FIR. In the six-paged FIR, he also alleged that Chakraborty gave him overdoses of medicines, while wrongfully informing everyone around him that he was suffering from dengue.

This is the first time the family have gone public with their accusations. Supporting Rajput’s family, Kangana Ranaut's team tweeted a shocking statement saying: ''Rhea was with Sushant for last 6 months, she hired Mahesh Bhatt as his psychiatrist and just two days before his death mysteriously everyone disappeared... glad this whole thing will be investigated now.''

Rhea Chakraborty and Sushant Singh Rajput: A Brief History

Rajput and Chakraborty met in 2012 when they were both signed in YRF Films. Rajput was working on Maneesh Sharma’s film Shudh Desi Romance while Chakraborty was working on her Hindu debut. Although, it was only last year that rumours sparked about their relationship. They were reportedly spotted holidaying together in Ladakh in August 2018. The buzz grew louder as both started to slip into each other’s Instagram posts. They were also often pictured exiting restaurants and gyms together in Bandra, Mumbai. The two never confirmed their relationship publicly, and it was only after Rajput’s death last month that Chakraborty admitted to having been in a relationship with him. She also revealed that they had been living together for a while. It was also rumoured that the two were also looking for a property and were planning on getting married later this year.

Post Rajput’s Death

Chakraborty was called to the Bandra police station to record her statement in connection with Rajput’s death on June 18. Apart from that, she did not speak up about Rajput’s demise on any social media for one month. On July 16, she revealed on her Instagram how she was subjected to online hate with users blaming her for Rajput’s death, calling out two Instagram users publicly for sending threats. The 28-year-old actor eventually disabled the comments section of her Instagram page. She also filed her complaint against the two users at the Santacruz police station on July 19. Around the same time, Chakraborty called for a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into Sushant Singh Rajput's death, tagging Union Home Minister Amit Shah in a post on Instagram.

As a response to the FIR lodged against her by Sushant Singh Rajput's father, Rhea Chakraborty has filed a petition in Supreme Court. Satish Maneshinde, Rhea Chakraborty's lawyer, told ANI that through the petition, Rhea has sought the transfer of the investigation of Sushant Singh Rajput's death to Mumbai from Bihar where the FIR was filed.

Previous Controversies around Rhea Chakraborty

Despite being a fresh face, it didn’t take a long for Chakraborty to become the center of controversies. The one that made headlines was about how she was trolled for a photograph she shared on her social media. It featured her sharing a warm embrace with Mahesh Bhatt, urging netizens to assume that the two were dating. Bhatt denied all allegations in a statement.
