The man who allegedly stabbed television actress Malvi Malhotra on Monday was traced by Mumbai police on Tuesday night. However, he is yet to be arrested as he is at a hospital in the city, police said on Wednesday. He will be arrested as soon as he is discharged.
The accused, a 26-year-old producer named Yogesh Kumar Mahipal Singh, who had been stalking Malhotra for the past nine months, was nabbed at a Vasai-based hospital. A police team tracked him down and enquired with him about the incident. Although an FIR has been registered against him at the Versova police station, Singh hasn't been arrested.

About the incident
The incident took place on October 26, Monday when the actress was returning home from a cafe after a work meeting at around 9 pm. Singh stopped her on the way and asked her to get in his vehicle. When Malhotra refused, the accused reportedly pulled out a knife and threatened to kill her and end his life. They both got into an argument, following which, Singh allegedly stabbed Malvi Malhotra in the abdomen. He tried to slash her face as well, but because she shielded her face with her hands, she ended up suffering injuries on both her hands. Singh fled the spot after the incident. Malhotra was rushed to Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in Mumbai where she is currently undergoing treatment. The police said that her condition is stable now.

According to police, Malhotra and Singh have known each other for the last one year. She had met him via social media. He had proposed to marry her, but she rejected the proposal and refused to talk to him anymore while blocking him on social media. Singh had approached the actress that night to ask why wasn't she responding to his texts and calls. This led to an argument between the two, following which Singh stabbed Malhotra thrice.

Actress Kangana Ranaut condemned the incident in a tweet. She wrote, "this is what happens to small town strugglers." She further added in a thread, "Dear Malvi I am with you, I read you are critical, I pray for you dear girl, requesting @sharmarekha ji to take immediate actions against the culprit, we are with you and we will get you justice. Please have faith."
