A SpiceJet employee was arrested on July 11, Thursday, after she slapped a Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) officer during an argument over security screening. The incident happened around 4 am when the crew member was stopped from entering the airport through the entry gate in Jaipur. The incident was caught on a CCTV camera and the woman, Anuradha Rani, has been arrested.

As per the reports, CISF officials said that assistant sub-inspector Giriraj Prasad had stopped Anuradha from entering the gate citing that she didn't have valid permission to enter the airport. He asked her to undergo a security examination at the nearby gate. However, no female CISF was present for her screening. The airline stood in its employee's defence, accusing the CISF officer of sexual harassment.

What happened between Anuradha and the sub-inspector?

Jaipur airport station house officer Ram Lal said that while the sub-inspector had called a female colleague to carry on the security check, the argument between Anuradha and Giriraj had escalated leading to Anuradha slapping the sub-inspector.

Police have arrested Anuradha who has been charged with sections 121 (1) (voluntarily causing hurt to deter public servant from his duty) and 132 (assaulting public servant) of Bharat Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

The airline supports its female crew

However, the airline, SpiceJet, has emerged in support of Anuradha. An airline spokesperson said that Anuradha had a valid airport entry pass. The airline further accused the CRPF official of subjecting its female crew to "inappropriate and unacceptable language by the CISF personnel, including asking her to come and meet him after his duty hours at his home."

The spokesperson gave a detailed statement about the incident while supporting Anuradha. They said, "Today, an unfortunate incident occurred at Jaipur Airport involving a SpiceJet female security staff member and a male CISF personnel. While escorting a catering vehicle at the steel gate, our female security staff member, who had a valid airport entry pass issued by the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS), India's civil aviation security regulator, was subjected to inappropriate and unacceptable language by the CISF personnel, including asking her to come and meet him after his duty hours at his home."

Adding further, the spokesperson said that the airline is going to take strict legal action for the sexual harassment of its female crew. It is going to approach the local police. The spokesperson said, "We stand firmly by our employee and are committed to providing her with full support."
