In a horrifying incident coming from the Philippines, a 23-year-old flight attendant at Philippine Airlines (PAL) named Christine Angelica Dacera was found dead in the bathtub of a four-star hotel in the city of Makati Manila. The police are suspecting gangrape and investing 11 men, of which three have been arrested in connection with Dacera’s death. This incident has yet again pushed to the forefront the issue of consent, and how what a woman chooses to wear or her being drunk is never an invitation for rape.
Rommel Galida, Dacera's office friend, revealed in a report that he found Dacera asleep in the bathtub of the hotel room when he woke up around 10 am. He further said that he wrapped Dacera in a blanket and went to sleep again, but found her unconscious and turning blue even a few hours later when he woke up again. Soon after, she was rushed to the hospital but doctors declared her bought dead.
"We are extending full support to the flight attendant's family at this most difficult time. Our desire is for the truth to come out in the interest of justice," PAL Express, her employers said.
