A 6-year-old girl from a tribal community in Chattisgarh lost her life after getting electrocuted on government school premises. Two girls were injured in the incident.
The deceased is identified as Varsha Kherwar (6), while the two others who were injured are Arti (9) and Kajal (6) who sustained injuries and are out of danger. Varsha and Kajal studied in class I and Arti studied in class III of the government primary school.
6-Year-Old Tribal Girl Got Electrocuted:
On July 6 in Balampur, Chattisgarh, a case of negligence by the school authorities resulted in the brutal loss of life of a 6-year-old girl hailing from a tribal community by electrocution and injured two of her other friends as well.
The incident took place in Ramangunj district around 1:40 pm in a government primary school of the Koti Wadrafnagar development block. Three small girls during their recess were going out to a nearby fair shop when the six-year-old while passing through the school gate touched the gate and got electrocuted. While her friends standing nearby sustained injuries as well.
According to reports, district superintendent Lal Umed Singh explained that there are three buildings on the premises that are primary government school building, panchayat building, and Public Distribution System (PDS) building. The PDS building had temporarily taken electricity from the panchayat building taking its wire from the channel gate of the school premises. The live wire was hanging and got cut off which school authorities failed to notice, resulting in the electrocution of a small girl.
Two assistant teachers Abhay Kumar and Ravindra Prasad are suspended in prima facie for negligence in the safety of children in school and failing to control children in school premises.
While Singh informed that they have done the panchanama and will file the First Information Report (FIR) soon.
Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel has expressed his condolences for the loss of a little girl's life and offered compensation of Rs 4 lakhs to the family of the deceased while also extending relief of Rs 50,000 to the other two surviving victims.
