On the occasion of our 73rd Independence Day, 19 Delhi Police officers were awarded for their distinguished services. Three officers have been bestowed with President’s Police Medals for their excellent services while 16 of them won Police Medals for their meritorious services. Out of these 19 police officers, six were women officers with outstanding service record.

Pushpa Jaggi
Sub-Inspector Pushpa Jaggi has been conferred with President’s Police Medal for her meritorious services. She joined Delhi Police in 1988. According to The New Indian Express, The Delhi Police said, “During the service, she has earned many commendation rolls and certificates for her works. In recognition of her excellent services, she was awarded the President’s Police Medal for meritorious services on Republic day in 2011.”
Suman Nalwa
Suman Nalwa is another woman police official in the list of the women awardees of Police Medal for meritorious services. She is the Deputy Commissioner of Police and the Principal of Police Training School (PTS). As the PTS Principal, she established PTS Dwarka, a police training institute exclusively for women. Besides, she also led ‘Nipun’, an e-learning education system for online training of Delhi Police.

Other Women officer awardees
ACP Meena Naidu and Sub-Inspector Kiran Sethi among others have also been conferred with Police Medals for their meritorious services to the nation and its citizens.

The Delhi Police had also hoisted a flag at their headquarters on the occasion of Independence Day. The flag was hoisted by Commissioner of Police Amulya Patnaik who appreciated the police personnel and staff for “foolproof” security arrangement.
