According to the letter, dated "December 2022," Badri Hosseini Khamenei, an Iranian resident, had criticised the clerical establishment, beginning with the late Islamic Republic founder Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini and continuing through her brother's rule.
She wrote this in the letter, which her son Mahmoud Moradkhani posted on Twitter on Wednesday, "I think it is appropriate now to declare that I oppose my brother’s actions and I express my sympathy with all mothers mourning the crimes of the Islamic Republic, from the time of Khomeini to the current era of the despotic caliphate of Ali Khamenei."

The letter added, "Ali Khamenei’s Revolutionary Guards and mercenaries should lay down their weapons as soon as possible and join the people before it is too late.”
The Revolutionary Guards, an elite force within Iran that controls a sizable business empire and has assisted the nation in establishing proxies throughout the Middle East. The elite force issued a statement on Tuesday urging the legal system to "not show mercy to rioters, thugs, and terrorists," signalling that the government has no intention of easing its stern suppression of dissent.
Masoud Setayeshi, a spokesman for Iran's judiciary, said on Tuesday, December 6, that five people who were convicted of killing Basij militia member Rouhollah Ajamian were given death sentences, though they still have the right to appeal the decision.
Farideh Moradkhani, the activist daughter of Khamenei, was detained by law enforcement in November after urging other nations to sever all ties with Tehran.
