The unstoppable Simone Biles on Thursday became the first woman to win four individual all-around world championships in Doha. The American again created gymnastics history when she won despite suffering from a kidney stone problem.
She had made a few uncharacteristic errors in two of the disciplines, the vault and beam, but ultimately claimed her 12th world title.
The 21-year-old beat Japan's Mai Murakami and American teammate Morgan Hurd by more than 1.6 points. With this win, Biles remains to equal the record of 20 world championship medals set by Russia's Svetlana Khorkina. Biles finished with 57.491 points as Hurd was edged into bronze with 55.732 points while Murakami who took silver.
According to reports, the margin of victory marked the largest of her four all-around world titles.

Biles is battling a kidney stone that she didn't remove before the competition. "It's not the gymnast that I am, to go out there and kind of bomb a meet like this," said Biles after the all-around score of 57.491. "Even though I won, I wish it were a little bit different," Firstpost reported.

In August this year, Biles won a record-breaking fifth US all-around title at the US Gymnastics Championships. During the event, Biles bagged gold in all four events: floor exercise, balance beam, vault and uneven bars, Yahoo reported. Before this, she had taken a 23-month break.

Before the break, Biles had made a record at the Rio Olympics. Arguably one of the best performers in the history of the sport, the American defeated Russia and China in the team all-around by a wide margin and won the women’s individual all-around by a solid two points. The American is also the three-time world champ.
