Journalist Siddique Kappan's Daughter Goes Viral, Know What This 9 Year Old Has To Say

A 9-year-old girl's heart-warming speech on Independence day has won many hearts. The video of Mehnaz Kappan, daughter of Journalist Siddique Kappan went viral. Kerala-based Journalist Siddique Kappan was arrested under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA).

She gave the speech to assert her father's freedom and everybody who is restricted of their freedom. 

Mehnaz Kappan is the youngest among Siddique's three children. Mehnaz Kappan remarked, "A dozens forced into a dark room, including my father, are stripped of all freedoms that one is entitled to. As the country enters the 76th year of independence, the civilian right should not be curtailed."

The head girl of GLP School in Malappuram, Kappan started her speech with Bharat Mata ki Jai and emphasised that every Indian has a choice on what they should speak, eat, and religion to prefer. Every citizen has the right to oppose those asking them to leave.

Further, she said, "we should never compromise the dignity of our nation, which resurrected on August 15. There is unrest at places, reflected in the violence erupting based on caste and religion. We must come together and stem the violence caused in the name of religion."

In the end, Kappan remembering freedom fighters said, "we still have to take India to the newer height and build a better tomorrow without division and discord." 

Journalist Siddique Kappan was booked under UAPA and other sedition charges in the Hathras conspiracy case. Since October 2020 Siddique Kappan has resided at UP jail. The court rejected several bail applications by Kappan. However, Supreme Court allowed the journalist to travel to Kerala to meet his ailing 90-year-old mother and return within five days.

Mehnaz Kappan through the speech honoured her father and asserted his freedom. She indirectly hinted at injustice inflicted on the people's freedom of expression. Her heart-warming tribute at such an age is worth a watch. | UAPA 9 year old girl independence speech
