Shweta Tiwari bra remark has stirred controversy in Madhya Pradesh, where the Home Minister has ordered an enquiry into the matter. The actor was recently in Bhopal for promotions of an upcoming web series she is starring in when she allegedly said at an event, "Meri bra ka size bhagwaan le rahe hain." (Translation: God is taking my bra size measurement.)
The remark reportedly caught on camera hasn't gone down well with authorities in MP, with minister Narottam Mishra condemning it. "I have seen and heard Shweta Tiwari's statement... I have instructed Bhopal Police Commissioner to investigate and submit a report to me soon. Action will be taken after that," reports quoted him saying.
Many on social media too are outraging against Tiwari's statement, suggesting its context is offensive. Hashtags are trending calling for a boycott of Tiwari's show.
On Friday, reports said a case had been registered against Tiwari in Bhopal under section 295 (A) of the IPC that relates to offending religious beliefs. The case followed a complaint by a local man who claimed Tiwari's remark had hurt his religious sentiments. After police spoke of probable arrest, Tiwari issued an apology Friday, saying her statement was "taken out of context" and "misconstrued."
"As someone who has been a staunch believer of ‘Bhagwan’ myself, there is no way that I would intentionally or unintentionally say or do any such thing that would hurt sentiments by and large... I have, however, come to understand that when taken out of context, it has unintentionally hurt feelings of people... I would like to humbly apologise for the hurt that the statement has unintentionally caused to a lot of people," Tiwari said, as quoted by ETimes.

"What a cheap statements by #ShwetaTiwari . She said 'God has taken her Bra size'. it clearly depicts her mentality," one user tweeted. "Some should be ashamed of how these people want to be famous by taking the name of God," another wrote. "PR stunt gone too far. Atrocious," another comment read.
