Shruti Das online abuse case: Bengali actor Shruti Das recently approached the police alleging that she has been abused online for about two years over her dusky complexion. Currently, Das is seen as Noa Bose Mukherjee in the Bengali television show Desher Mati and claimed to have been receiving online hate comments regarding her dusky tone since 2019, after making her debut in Bengali serials.

Shruti Das is a Bengali actor who hails from Katwa in the Purba Bardhaman district of West Bengal and is known for her role in the supernatural drama Trinayani, in which she played the role of Trinayani Basu who has the ability to foresee the future and the past.

1. Actor Shruti Das made a formal complaint about online hate she has been facing for about two years.

2. Das said that she has been facing online abuse regarding her dusky complexion.

3. She added that she has been facing online hate since she started working in Bengali serials.

4. However, since her show Desher Mati started to get more popular, the hate comments started to get increasingly vicious.

5. The 23-year-old actor is reportedly the first person from the Tollywood industry to formally lodge a complaint against such a form of abuse.

6. Das said that the trolls accuse her of manipulating her partner, Swornendu Samaddar, who is also the director of Desher Mati, to get the role in the show.

7. The claims said that it would be otherwise impossible for her to get the role because of her dusky complexion.

8. Das tagged the Kolkata Police in a social media post on Thursday, citing the abuse and wrote that she was told to submit her complaint to the cyber police station via email. She added that she set the email and is waiting for action.

9. According to the police sources, Das has not provided her local address in Kolkata or her contact number and the details that she gave to the police are also incomplete.

10. The investigating team has reached out to her over e-mail and asked her to provide more details on the basis on which they can initiate a First Information Report (FIR).
