Shreya Patel To Play Lead Role In Balika Vadhu 2 As It Begins Shoot

The shoot for Balika Vadhu 2 has started in Rajasthan with the two leads being Shreya Patel and Vansh Sayani. After the short shoot schedule in Rajasthan, the team is planning to move to the sets in Mumbai.

The long-running TV series based on the social issues of child marriage, female oppression, lack of opportunities for women, the stigma revolving around divorce etc. It starred Avika Gor and Avinash Mukherjee in the lead role of Anandi and Jagya respectively in its first season. It started in 2008 and ran for eight years.

Shreya Patel is known for her role in the show Aapki Nazron Ne Samjha. On the other hand, Vansh Sayani played a role in the child superhero show Baal Veer. The show will also star  Riddhi Nayak Shukla, Ketki Dave, Seema Mishra, Anshul Trivedi, Supriya Shukla.

According to reports, "While the soul of the project would be close to original, it would be set in current times. The makers also want to address the changing societal norms and how it affects the younger generation."

The upcoming show on Colors, Balika Vadhu 2 is reportedly going to be on the same lines as the previous one. Anandi, the protagonist of the show would be married off as a child bride. It would further depict the complexities of relationships solemnised at such a young age.

The grown-up version of Anandi and Jagya was played by late actor Pratyusha Banerjee and Shashank Vyas. Banerjee was later replaced by Toral Rasputra. Sidharth Shukla, who later became the Bigg Boss 13 winner, had a pivotal role in the show as he played the role of Anandi's second husband after her divorce. The show also had actors like Sargun Mehta, Anup Soni, Surekha Sikri and Anjum Farooki.

The shows like Kasautii Zindagii Kay, Saath Nibhana Saathiya, Sasural Simar Ka and Pratigya are also coming back with a reboot version.
