Indian-American Shree Saini from Washington won the Miss World America pageant. She is the first Indian-origin woman to represent America on the pageant stage.
Popular on social media, Saini is an advocate of heart health. She is herself has had a permanent pacemaker attached to her since she was 12-years-old. It was after suffering a major car accident. The accident reportedly had left many burn marks on her face.
The Miss World America pageant was held in Los Angeles. Saini was crowned by Diana Hayden. After winning the pageant, Shree Saini said, " I am happy and quite nervous. I can't express my feelings (in words). All the credit goes to my parents, especially my mother because of whose support I am here. Thank you Miss World America for this honour."
On her Instagram handle, Saini said that she is the first Indian origin person and the first Asian woman to win Miss World America. She added, "With your affectionate support, I invite you all to be part of my service journey.."
Miss World America's official Instagram also announced the news. They wrote, "Shree, who is currently Miss World America Washington, also holds the prestigious position of ''MWA National Beauty with a Purpose Ambassador'', a position she earned by working tirelessly to help those less fortunate and in need."
Counting her accomplishments, the pageant added that Saini's work has been recognised by UNICEF, Susan G Komen, Doctors Without Borders, and many others.
They added, "We are certain Shree will continue to immaculately embody Beauty With A Purpose, and no doubt will be successful in raising awareness and attention to the Miss World America mission. Stay tuned and follow the Miss World America 2021 journey!" Earlier in 2018, Saini was crowned Miss India Worldwide, a pageant held in Fords City of New Jersey.
