This season has proven brilliant for veteran women’s rifle shooter Tejaswini Sawant. The latest feather in her cap is a gold in the women’s 50m Rifle Prone event on the opening day of ISSF World Cup Rifle/Pistol stage in Munich.

Sawant went ahead in the game by shooting 621.4 to a much younger teammate Anjum Moudgil, who shot 621.2 to win Silver in the event.
Sawant made an incredible start this year when she shot gold at the recently-concluded Gold Coast Commonwealth Games in Australia
Another Indian in the fray, Chain Singh, also won a silver in the men’s 50m Rifle Prone event, shooting a score of 627.9 to finish behind USA’s Matthew Emmons, who took gold with a score of 628.9.

The trio of Apurvi Chandela, Mehuli Ghosh and Anjum Moudgil is taking up India's shooting challenge in the women’s 10m air rifle, first of the 10 Olympic event finals
Along with her, Shreya Saxena also gave a good run and finished ninth in the women’s Prone event with a score of 619.1. Gagan Narang and Sanjeev Rajput shot scores of 621.7 and 621.2 to end in 32nd and 34th positions respectively in the men’s event.

The 37-year old Tejaswini was a gold medallist at the 2006 Commonwealth Games in the 10m air rifle singles and pair events. The Arjuna awardee is also the first Indian to clinch a gold in the world championship in 2010. Again, at the Commonwealth Games 2010 in Delhi, she bagged the silver in 50 rifle prone singles and bronze in 50 m rifle prone along with Meena Kumari. She also bagged a silver in 50 m rifle 3 positions event along with Lajjakumari Goswami at the 2010 CWG.
