Shiv Sena on Saki Naka rape: The horrific sexual assault case from Mumbai, which resulted in the death of a 32-year-old woman and has left the country rattled, was the result of "pervertedness," Maharashtra's Shiv Sena party said Monday. In their Saamana newspaper, an editorial said though the case had "shocked" people, "there should be no doubt" that "Mumbai is the safest city in the world for women."
The Marathi editorial added such rape cases were a "blot" on the state.

Shiv Sena On Saki Naka Rape Case: Govt Will Bear Her Daughters' Expenses
The manner of sexual assault in the Saki Naka rape case bears resemblance to the 2012 Delhi gangrape, in which a 23-year-old woman was raped, brutalised with external objects, and died.
The piece in Saamana added the Saki Naka rape could not be likened to the Hathras gangrape from Uttar Pradesh last year, since the accused there "support of the state's rulers," as quoted by PTI. In the Mumbai case, the state government would "take care of the education and livelihood" of the deceased woman's two daughters.
"The culprit will definitely be hanged to death as no one has come out in support of the accused, unlike Hathras and Kathua," the Sena said, alluding to certain protests staged during the latter cases in defence of the perpetrators.
A court in Mumbai has sent Mohan Chauhan, the 45-year-old accused of rape in the Saki Naka case, to police custody till September 21.
