Viral: Shiv Sena's Eknath Patil Spits On Daughter-In-Law In Domestic Dispute Video

A video of Shiv Sena's Eknath Patil spitting on his daughter-in-law has sparked a political row with the BJP taking cognisance.

A video has emerged of Shiv Sena leader and assembly convener Eknath Patil spitting on his daughter-in-law in Kalyan, Maharashtra. In subsequent media appearances, the woman, named Harshada, has also accused Patil of harassing her family and threatening to kill them. As per reports, police have been alerted of the issue and investigations to authenticate the video are underway.

Thane police confirmed on Twitter, "The complaint has been reported to Deputy Commissioner of Police, Circle 3, Kalyan for necessary action."

Patil has refuted the claims, saying, "I have no dispute with my daughter-in-law. The related video is old and all the allegations against me are false." He alleged the opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has conspired in the matter against him, as per reports.

As per News18 LokmatHarshada approached BJP MLA Ravindra Chavan to seek help in the dispute with Patil. Chavan is a three-time legislative assembly elect representing Dombivali. Chavan, thereafter, raised the issue at Thane police station.

Vice President of BJP Maharashtra Chitra Kishor Wagh flagged the viral video May 30 on Twitter to Thane police saying, "The victim has given a detailed letter to DCP Kalyan." The city police told her the complaint has been reported to Kalyan.

Harshada has also accused her father-in-law of abusing her children, cutting off their electricity and water supply and allegedly issuing them death threats. "Patil has been harassing us for the last five years. He uses abusive words for our girls. He has made it difficult for us to even step out of our home," she told media.
