Shilpa Shetty Statements: In the pornography case filed against Raj Kundra, his wife and actor Shilpa Shetty has been listed as the witness in the Mumbai Police's charge sheet. Kundra is accused of producing and distributing porn on mobile applications.
The police has reportedly filed a 1,400 pages long charge sheet against Raj Kundra and other parties involved in the case. The charge sheet mentioned the statement given by his wife Shetty who said that she was not aware of Kundra's activities as she was busy with her own work.
The actor who is a judge in a television reality show told the police, "I was too busy with work, I did not know what Raj Kundra was up to." The police presented the charge sheet to Mumbai court on Thursday. As per reports, Shetty was visiting Vaishno Devi temple when the Police filed the charge sheet in court.
She also claimed that she was not aware of the controversial mobile applications 'Hotshots' and 'Bollyfame'. The apps have been linked to the case, the police have alleged that Kundra distributed the porn films on these apps.
As per the charge sheet, the Hotshots application was removed from Google Play Store and Apple App store. That is when Kundra and his associates launched another app named Bollyfame. According to the police, Kundra used his company Viaan Industries Limited to run the pornography racket.
The British-Indian businessman Raj Kundra was arrested by Mumbai police on July 19 along with others including his four employees. As per reports, the employees have now turned witnesses against Kundra. The businessman told court that the content distributed by him was erotica and not pornographic. He argued that the same type of content is available on OTT platforms such as Netflix.
In India, publishing and transmitting 'obscene material' such as pornography is prohibited by law but watching such content is legal. The police have alleged that Kundra established a UK-based firm with his brother-in-law so that the they could evade Indian cyber crime laws.
